Last Call
Written by Debbie Hennessey, KP Hawthorn, Steve Berns
Last call, he said, from behind the bar
As the man to my left throws a ten in the jar
Ice in my drink melts away like the past
Wish I could find solace in the bottom of a glass
You know what you said isn't right
Are you closing us down like the end of the night
Lights up, drinks down,
people move toward the door
Clock ticks, hear the scrape
of the chairs on the floor
But I'm still here, and I know I'll get past it
I just can't believe that call was our last
Will you have another, the bartender smiled
Looks like you could use it, you still have awhile
But your words keep turning around in my head
I think that you told me our love is dead
Cold and distant and so unkind
Did you fall out of love or just change your mind
Lights up, drinks down,
people move toward the door
Clock ticks, hear the scrape
of the chairs on the floor
But I'm still here, and I know I'll get past it
I just can't believe that call was our last
Last call, those words just hang in the air
And I sit here frozen it seems so unfair
But life is a gamble and we took a chance
The odds seemed to be with us up til the end
Lights up, drinks down,
people move toward the door
Clock ticks, hear the scrape
of the chairs on the floor
But I'm still here, and I know I'll get past it
I just can’t believe that call was our last
I don’t want to believe that call was our last
